Intelliprint® mL450 Launched As Fastest Printer In Genicom's Workgroup Laser Range

New Controller Architecture in the mL450 Offers Highest Standards of Speed and Quality

Chantilly, VA, May 1, 2002 - GENICOM, L.L.C. today announced the launch of the Intelliprint® mL450, the fastest ever GENICOM laser printer. The 45 page-per-minute print speed is enabled by Intelliprint® IV technology, the latest version of GENICOM's sophisticated controller architecture. The first GENICOM printer to implement the architecture, it provides high performance output and outstanding quality to meet the complex document requirements of workgroup and departmental printing.

This latest version of GENICOM's unique controller architecture, Intelliprint®IV provides significant improvements to performance. Productivity is increased as job processing is now four times faster, yet with the inclusion of a new toner system, there is no compromise in quality at these higher speeds. Intelliprint®IV also incorporates more memory, enabling the storage of increased numbers of forms and fonts, minimizing time taken resetting the printer.

"Businesses today require transaction printing solutions that help fuel their business operations," said Lance Wolak, Sr. Product Manager at GENICOM. "In our continuous commitment to the customer we are delighted to offer this high volume, work group printer that offers fast speeds combined with industry leading image quality. We are confident that this latest model can meet these demanding requirements while providing a cost-effective printing solution."

With print speeds of up to 45ppm and a professional 1200 x 1200 dpi quality output, the mL450 is an ideal high performance printer for the busy office environment. Complemented by the industry's leading language support technology, Adobe Postscript level 3 and PCL6, it ensures that graphics, text and images are accurately reproduced with a duty cycle of up to 300,000 images per month. In order to realize maximum document throughput the mL450 offers a broad variety of paper handling options. The base printer comes with two 500-sheet trays and a 50-sheet bypass feeder. An optional high-capacity feeder can be used as a stand for the printer and adds one 500-sheet tray and two 1,000-sheet trays. An optional envelope feeder can handle 100 envelopes. The trays can accommodate a variety of stocks and sizes from half-page size to 11x17.

The standard output bin automatically collates and offsets up to 500 pages. An optional finisher/stapler holds 3,000 additional sheets and can staple or hole punch up to 50 sheets at a time. An optional duplexer can be added to provide double-sided printing for professional looking documents.

The mL450 is fully compatible with Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh. To simplify connectivity and network management the mL450 is supplied with GENICOM's Remote Control Software that enables IT managers to monitor the status of networked printers over the network. It is compatible with all the common networking protocols including Novell, NetWare (IPX/SPX), Telnet, EtherTalk, TCP/IP, SNMP and Printer MIB.
